Papa's Day #4

8 July 2009

Note: Sorry about the oversized photos. I guess I didn’t rescale them enough, and I’m too lazy to fix and re-upload. I’ll remember for next time – 15%, not 20%.

The beautiful product of our trip to the pottery store with Nettie was received with supreme pleasure by a much loved Papa on Father’s Day.

It featured his two older girls’ handprints, a carrot for the youngest, and all three girls’ names:

Now that Roma is old enough to be interested, she added her own touch to the gift:

Of course, the girls showed Papa how their hands matched (imagine that – they didn’t shrink in the kiln!):

After the present opening, I made Papa a big breakfast to order, and we went to church. Our afternoon was spent at Nonna’s house, hanging out with the two honored guests (Dad and Eric).

While it’s been several weeks since the official day, Eric is just as much as ever a wonderful godly father to his girls, and we appreciate him every day of the year for his love and dedication to his family. Never once has Eric expressed anything but joy and pride in his daughters, even as the number of the brood grew from 1 to 2 to 3 at a quick pace! He guides and protects his girls, and they adore him in return.

Their future husbands are going to have to be pretty amazing with the standards these girls will have, based on their Papa! Which is fine by me. I pray every day that they will marry men who will love them and their children every bit as much as their Papa loves me and his kids. It seems like a far away day that my girls will be grown and married, but I’m sure it will come faster than I can imagine. Thus, I am doubly grateful that Eric doesn’t take for granted his days with the girls now while they are young, so that when those far-off grownup days roll around Roma, Quincy and Nora will have had many years of love invested to provide a strong foundation for their adult lives.

We love you, Papa!
