It's What I Do.
Some of you have heard rumblings about my senior project at Colorado State, so I wanted to share here to dispel any rumors. This year (we started in August and finished this last week) myself and 5 other seniors have been working on a design project that was put on by the school and sponsored by my company, S.A.Robotics.

The project that we worked on was developing a robotic joint that will be part of an arm that will be used on a small military robot to go pick bombs up off the side of the road. Most robots out there now can only pick up 30-40 lbs. Using our joint, this arm will be able to pick up well over 100 lbs, widening the range of possibilities for soldiers in the field.
You can see why its important in the following video. For all you Johnny 5 fans, this will bring a small tear. All I can say is
Number Five is not alive.
So the school had its annual Engineering Days last friday, where we all get together and show off our projects (or best attempts at in some cases). A large group of local industry advisors (senior engineers, CEOs, etc) came around and judged our projects over the quality of the project, the professionalism of the display, and the completeness of the goals. We were one of the few teams to be 100% complete on our goals, and had a very slick looking display.

Turns out, the industry group agreed, and we were awarded 1st place out of the college of engineering for E Days. We got some cash and a nice 4H style ribbon, but the best part is that I can say I cleaned up on my resume.
And just for fun, heres a crazy roadside bomb video I found on youtube. It’ll make you jump, but it also helps show the magnitude of what our boys are dealing with in Iraq.
