Holiday highlights

22 December 2009

I have traded the clamoring voices of hungry children for the warm chatter of busy hairdressers. Thanks to my giving husband and the local salon, I am going to spend an hour being catered to without pausing to wipe a snotty nose. When you have three kids, getting highlights is nearly as fun as a trip to Disneyland.

Remember my last post? I am soaking up the full flavor of this glorious season even more now that presents are finished and wrapped, the paper chain and advent calendar are down to number three, and that handsome husband of mine only has one more day of work before his 1.5 week vacation.

It is so delightful to mark our second Christmas in Wrightwood with a beautiful fresh tree and three little stockings over the fireplace. Last year, we had a ball with Eric’s family here, but we had just moved in two weeks earlier and things were a bit disorganized. It’s refreshing to come into the holiday absent furniture wrapped in a tarp on our porch and moving boxes in our bedroom.

And knowing we will be in Colorado later to celebrate with the Versluys family erases any sadness that would be present without the Vs here on Christmas day.

I’m fairly certain we won’t be online for a while, so I would like to wish all our friends and family a blessed and joyful Christmas!

Now to rinse the hair… Cross your fingers. Family pictures are next week!
