Finally.
Okay, I know I just posted. But I have just had fantastic news dumped in my lap, and I have to share somewhere. I know I can’t call my mom because it’s officially school hours and I get chastised when I disrupt the educational proceedings.
The U.S. Congress has finally recognized the needs of families in the military reserve. After years of confining affordable health insurance to active duty military, the reserve is now being offered comparable insurance. This means that the $750 a month premiums for reserve military families has been lowered to $253, and the annual cap is only $1000! I laughed when I saw the deductible – $50. 50 measly bucks for a deductible. It seems too good to be true.
If we had this insurance when Roma was born, the bills would have been paid in the first few months after her birth. We would have saved $6000… sigh. Oh, well, I should just be thankful that we finally have affordable health insurance that we can rely on for at least 5 more years.
So thank you, Congress. I think the bill was passed while the Republicans still had control, so I’m going to give them most of the credit.
