The Versluys playset has been officially broken in.

Oma and Grandpa decided they had to up the ante and make their house even more fun for Roma (and grandkids to follow). So they went out and brought home a fun play house/slide just the right size for a very active toddler.
Roma and I headed down to Louisville on Monday to have a christening ceremony – instead of champagne and bottle smashing, we indulged in watered-down juice and repeated trips down the slide. Or at least Roma did.
It was such a delight to sit and watch her play without needing Mama right behind her to catch her if she fell. I generally despise playgrounds because they are rarely made with 1-2 year olds in mind. I always have to follow her up and down the stairs at the park, and it gets very old very fast when you’re trying to keep lunch down.
I think the playset is a hit.

During Roma’s play in the backyard, she and Oma discovered several dog poop deposits. Thankfully, Roma learned as soon as she could walk that the proper reaction to dog poop is to say “ewwww” and retreat.
As a result, she was rather disconcerted when Oma pulled out the plastic bags for collecting the unwanted items – she said “poop” and “ewww” over and over again with a concerned look on her face.

However, being my helpful little girl, she didn’t abandon Oma in her hour of need. Roma trotted along behind as Mom picked up, hollering “poop” if she spotted any. She wasn’t any less concerned throughout the process, though, and was very relieved when the yard was once again cleaned for her play.

Check out the photo gallery for the rest of our photos from the day, as well as several from a walk along the canal near our house!
