A says "ah"

22 January 2008

In a valiant effort to refrain from pulling my hair out, I am going to share a nice little collection of photos with you. This will give you a glimpse into Roma’s life when she’s being good and entertaining herself, and it will remind me that she isn’t always whining and crying like she is now.

As mentioned in a previous post, Roma now knows her entire alphabet, thanks to Aunt Nettie’s gift of this fridge toy/learning tool.

It is one of her favorite toys with which to play. Between the bouncy “A says ah” ditty that plays every time a letter is pressed into the slot, and the practice with Mama and Papa of picking out letters in the house and outside, Roma will be ready for phonics by her birthday. Okay, maybe we’ll give her a break for the summer – but once September hits, I’m busting out the trusty old flashcards my mom still uses for her beginning readers.

We’ll be singing “ph says f” in no time. And reading big books, too.

It’s a good thing there’s no fashion pressure in homeschool – I don’t think this pink onesie/aqua sweatpant ensemble would make the grade in kindergarten.
